| Use
the 2 types of Internet searches |
Basically
one type searches the WWW for the word(s) you submitted - AltaVista
- and returns all the addresses where it found the requested word(s)
The other type uses categories
to direct the search from among registered sites -Yahoo- |
| read

This
site allows you to search in newsgroups - where people subscribe to interest

The search engine using
categories would be your first choice for most topics while the other type
would be more useful for more obscure searches. |
| Try
a search for the same something in each type of search engine and

Yahoo : Found 23 categories
and 378 sites for ESL - the categories help direct the search.
AltaVista found about

.ppt is the extension
for a Power Point presentation.
.zip is the extension
for a compressed file format common on IBM compatibles and used extensively
on the Internet to minimise a file(s) that can be sent from point to point.
