TriviO! 
Tons of questions on a variety of topics from sports and history to geography and language, this programme randommly presents various answers placing the emphasis on understanding the questions. The choice of an answer is then quite easy but this is meant to enhance the acquisition of  information. Students and teachers can add their own series of questions and answers to the existing bank.

Check-out  
Check-out allows you to keep a rather secure list of the books, etc that students might want to borrow and provide an easy and convenient interface for managing the records. The teacher may enter the choices and students lists or the students may build the lists as they use the program. Records of the transactions may be printed out and posted as a reminder, as a reading record of the class and guideline for the student's choices of books.

Grammar Roundup  

This program leads you through grammar exercises in order to improve your writing skills. When you are ready, choose the button BEGIN. You then give an appropriate answer by clicking on "ANSWER!".  
When you open the program, have a diskette in the a: drive. Write your first name and a 3 number code to keep your score.  

Your results will be saved to a diskette (a:\)  Choose ANNULER  to not  save your results.  (Win 9X image)

Mots-Mots: Vocabularium presents 9 modules to practice various skills in English with an interface in French while Vocab.zip (Words:Vocabularium) presents an English interface. Teachers may add their own files to adapt the activities to the material being used.  

Spell_it briefly presents words from a vocabulary list the student chooses. The student has a short lapse of time to spell out the word that is now hidden.  

Fill_it! is similar to Spell_it only the words are missing certain letters. The student re-writes the word with the missing letters.  

De-code_it! is another variation of Spell_it where the words are coded by alternate letters or by replacing letters with numbers (1-26).  

Draw_it! is a two player game where players take turns choosing a word, drawing it and guessing which word the drawing represents.  

Quiz_it! is a question-response exercise where the response must be exact to be accepted.  

Choose_it! is a question-response exercise where the response must be chosen from a list of possible responses randomly chosen by the computer among the responses to various questions.  

mChoose_it! is a question-response exercise where the response must be chosen from a list of 4 possible responses (multiple choice).

   Graphic and html programs/ 

Ron's Home-made Software was programmed in one or both of
MSVisual Basic 4 - 16 bit for Windows 3.x computers and 
MSVisual basic 5 - 32 bit for Windows 95 and 98 computers.
Files called VB runtime files from Microsoft must be added to your computer in order to run the programs. In some cases, these files have been included with the program in an 'installable' setup file just as most commercial software. However, this makes each file much larger than the program and its particular sub-files and therefore longer to download.  
Once you have installed the VB 4 and/or 5 files, all these programs will work by extracting them to a directory and adding a link. This will make downloading much faster. 

All programs will work with Windows 95 and 98 computers but only those  identified as VB4 - 16 bit will work under Windows 3.x . None are DOS programs.

Download  
Click on the file you would like to try. In a moment, a window will ask if you want to save it and you click yes. An Explorer window opens to allow you to choose where you would like to place the file. Choose and remember where it is. Choose OK to download. A window will open to show you the progress of the download. You may click on the browser window and continue surfing while the file downloads in the background. When the download is complete (in Win 9X, the button Saving... on the toolbar will disappear) find the file with Explorer.  

Extract  
Double click on the file. Extracting an ____.exe file will either cause it to install where you tell the setup program to install (probably a large file) or it will decompress the files (smaller ones) where you ask it to. Make sure it is in a new directory (folder) so that it doesn't mix in with other files and you will  be able to erase the files without confusion. Programs that install themselves can be easily and completely uninstalled by the Control Panel's Add/Remove programs. Zip files need a program such as WinZip to decompress the file and allow installation.  

Link  
You will need to make a link to the _____.exe file of a program that you extracted rather than installed because you already have the VB5 or VB4 files and it makes for a faster download. To add a link, go to Setting, (Panneau) then TaskBar, next, choose the tab for the Start Menu. Choose to add a shortcut (link) and direct the Explorer window to the  _____.exe file you had extracted.  
  It's only hard the first time!
