Assignment
3:
3. Make a Web page that
introduces yourself and gives links to 3 of your interests. (music, sports,
etc). Using Word 97 (open new - WebPage Wizard) or Netscape (Gold
3) or Composer 4 (see Gold 3) .
To begin: On the menu,
click File - Open - Choose File.
Go to your diskette (a:
) or folder on the server (u:\1_projet\english\01\alice)
Click on the New Folder
icon (circled)
Name the new folder (ex.
webpage)
Return to the menu, choose
File - New
Save the file to your
folder (ctrl + s) (Name it with your first name, wp and a number
(alicewp02)

Begin writing your text.

Format your text.

Choose Format - Page colours
and properties to give your page some colour and in General - author -
write your name then add a title to the page.

Add links to favorite sites.

Write the title of the page
you will link to,

select the title,
-
click on the Link button
on the tool bar and enter the address of your favorite page or right click
on the selected title and choose create link. Hint: with (ctrl + N)
open a new Netscape window, go to your favorite page and copy the complete
address (http://www.whopee.com), return to the editing window by clicking
on its button on the bottom of the screen and paste the address (URL).
If it's copied it can't be wrong.

Include a link to the school

You may use scans of pictures,
logos and /or clipart to illustrate but only those with an ending .gif
(for logos,etc) or .jpg (for photos) will work.

If you find an image on the
Intenet, simply right click on it and choose Save as. Save it (you may
change the name, but not the extension part -.gif or jpg) to the folder
you created earlier.

Back in the Web page you
are making, click on the Image button and Choose file. Choose the image
you want to place where your cursor was.

To save, UPDATE AND CHECK
OUT YOUR PAGE, click on the Preview button.

If you would like to change
something about the image, go to the editor, right click on it, choose
Properties and try changes with Apply. Close when you have made the necessary
changes and return to Preview to check it out.

Add your e-mail address by
writing it on the bottom of the page, selecting it and right clicking on
it to Create a link. Add mailto: just before your address like
this:
mailto:rmastine@sunqbc.risq.qc.ca
Write your address in
the place of mine. This will create a link that will pop up a mail message
form in Netscape (or IExplorer) with your address already in the
TO: .

Send the teacher (me) rmastine@sunqbc.risq.qc.ca
the page by right clicking on it from Netscape (not the editor) and choosing
send. Include your e-mail address.
